AICE Sociology - Introduction To Functionalism

Sale Price:$6.00 Original Price:$7.00

I teach AICE/Cambridge Sociology. I do not like the way the book that is being used for the current syllabus (it will remain the same for the future syllabus as well) organizes the information. For example, it teaches socialization and then provides information from the Functionalist POV, but the book never explicitly teaches the three main sociological perspectives in advance. I will teach the three perspectives in advance before starting Chapter 1. This lesson deals solely with the Sociological Perspective of Functionalism. I have my students take Cornell Notes for this PPT. I also have a Cornell Notes Template available for free download.

When You Purchase My Introduction To Functionalism, You Get The Following:

* The group activity is called “Build a Society” Functionalism Challenge. The idea behind the game:

  • Students will design a functioning society by applying key functionalist ideas: social institutions, value consensus, socialization, and the AGIL model.

  • Each group will choose a setting for their imaginary society (I have provided 13).

  •  Students must describe how their society will stay stable, ordered, and functional using what they've learned.

  • The concluding Activity is for the students to create a poster and present their society to the class. I also provide a handout with instructions for the students.
