AICE Sociology - Introduction To Marxism
AICE Sociology - Introduction To Marxism
I teach AICE/Cambridge Sociology. I do not like the way the book that is being used for the current syllabus (it will remain the same for the future syllabus as well) organizes the information. For example, it teaches education and then provides information from the Marxist POV, but the book never explicitly teaches the three main sociological perspectives in advance. I will teach the three perspectives in advance before starting Chapter 1. This lesson deals solely with the Sociological Perspective of Marxism. I have my students take Cornell Notes for this PPT. I also have a Cornell Notes Template available for free download.

* There are two student work opportunities: one activity for students to complete in their notes, and the other a group activity. I provide the teacher with instructions and handouts for the students.
* The group activity is called “Marxist Meme Gallery Walk” - Exploring Marxist Sociology Through Humor
Students will demonstrate an understanding of key Marxist concepts in sociology by creating memes or single-panel comics representing core ideas, then analyzing how institutions like education reinforce capitalism.
I have also provided the meme I created using the famous "Distracted Boyfriend" Meme - to show students an example.
